Russian River Family Trip

This past weekend some of our extended family took a trip up to the Russian River in Sonoma County. We had a great time! The 11 of us stayed in a couple of cabins at the Cottages on River Road in Guerneville and had a great long weekend full of leisurely fun.

One day we took a drive up Highway 1 along the coast to visit Fort Ross and spent a few hours walking around in the fog.

Another outing brought us to the redwoods in Armstrong Woods for a teeny hike and a picnic beneath the trees.

We also snuck in a quick wine-tasting at Joseph Swan Vineyards (we were in wine country, after all)!

The rest of the trip we filled with swimming, eating, playing with the kiddos, making smores by the hotel's campfire at night, playing the bean game (I feel like I say that in almost every blog. Maaaaybe we play too much of that game...), and relaxing.

We've gone to the Russian River as a family several times now. I'm not sure how that got started; it's a bit of a random vacation destination, and yet we have a great time every time we go. I have lots of fond memories from our time spent here on yet another great little family trip!
