Promotion!

Corey's getting promoted!! That awesome, brilliant, hard-working husband of mine got his promotion test results back yesterday, and is now an E-6 Tech Sergeant-select! I'm bubbling over with pride. Congratulations my love!!

We celebrated last night at the most delicious korean restaurant EVER in Hachinohe. It was awesome... as is Corey!  :)

what do you do in Japan? are there jobs for the wifeys (or hubbies of airman) or do they just hang out all day?

Wow, very cool. This sounds like quite an accomplishment. And you celebrated at a Korean restaurant, no less. Heartiest congratulations.

So far I get to hang out all day. But there are... jobs. Nothing fantastic, but jobs nonetheless. I'll probably get one one of these days when I get too bored with hanging out all day. :)

Trust me...hanging out all day gets VERY old. I'm tired of it after only 7 or 8 months, and I am even working on a second degree to keep me a little busy...

It's just not enough, especially when all my girlfriends are so far away and always too busy working to talk on the phone =/

I want to teach cute little Japanese kids English when I get there....here of any jobs like that?

I'm getting nervous about the flight....I don't want to end up crashed on some weird island with a smoke monster!!

I've heard that there are opportunities to teach english, but sort of on a bit of an informal level- like taking over the classes of someone who's leaving, or word-of-mouth individual tutoring sessions. I have a non-military friend in Misawa who teaches english through a states-based program, but that's kind of a different deal. I haven't looked into it myself, so there may be many more opportunities than I know about.

Second degrees are fun! I'm thinking about trying to get my masters while we're here, just not sure what I'd like to study...

And crashing on the island wouldn't be all bad- in between attacks by the Others and smoke monsters, you could lay out by the beach and drink all the Dharma beer you wanted.
